Reading Electronically

So I'm finally thinking about jumping on the ship that pretty much has already sailed. I sort of feel like I'm jumping from the dock with arms outstretched, hoping to grab the rail as the ship passes...

I'm getting an e-reader.

Yes, you heard me correctly. I'm fairly sure that I've convinced Santa that I've been a good girl this year.

So now the question is what to get. Kindle? Nook? Touch? Color? Earth, Wind or Fire? I  think I've settled on Nook, because of the epub library functionality. And the fact that it's compatible with my Android. But my husband is trying to convince me to go color. I'm resisting a bit, though, because I don't want or need a redundant device. I really just want to read. Although Angry Birds in a larger format would be nice...

No. No, I really just want to read.

What are you guys getting for Christmas? Anything I should know about an E-reader? I really want to be able to read manuscripts, and all my friends' who are e-publishing. I can't wait!

I can get library books on my Kindle finally. And I wonder what is going to happen with Amazon's new lending library. I have only tried the kindle so I can't recommend any others. But I love it.

My bf gave me a Kindle for V-day because I was going to Taiwan soon. It's useful for not lugging around books overseas, but I pretty much never read it when I'm home. So it's gathered dust for this whole year lol. I'm about to go on a trip again and I'm not sure I'm going to bring it - I hate reading books in that format.

I haven't gotten library books on my Kindle yet. I haven't checked it out. The touch looks really nice.

Can you upload manuscripts onto the Nook? I'd make sure. I love love that feature about the Kindle.

I'm eReader free and loving it. :) I honestly have no desire to get one, though I understand why people like theirs. My husband is getting a Kindle for Christmas, so I might poke around on his a bit, but for now I'm a traditional book kind of girl.

I hope Santa's good to you and hooks you up with the eReader of your dreams. :)

I haven't purchased a physical book since buying my first iPad. You'll dig having an eReader. And yes, I'd suggest an iPad above all the others because it's so much more than just an eReader.

I have a Kindle 3G and it's been great for reading my crit partners' manuscripts. I've found it very user-friendly for that.

I have to admit I haven't bought a single ebook yet, but I have nabbed some nice free ones from Amazon, like old fairy tales and legends.

We have two kindles and we have a color nook. My daughter the color nook because at a 11, she still likes to read the occasional picture book, and she can read magazines in full color and see what nail polish or clothes look like.

I love my kindle. I read all my requested manuscript submissions on mine now. I just email the .doc files to my kindle address. It is so easy.

I came by my Kindle indirectly. I said NEVER, but my hubby wanted one. My mom had 3 e-readers (go figure) and sold us her extra Kindle. And I'm getting used to it! I've read a few books on it, and it's not bad. And I can read books by my writer friends that I wouldn't have been able to otherwise. I still prefer hardcopy books though. Love the covers. :)
