Musical inspiration

I know I'm not the only one who gets inspired by music.  There are so many songs that whisper to me.  I've always been that way--in junior high, my sister and I spent hours transcribing the lyrics to songs we loved.  I kept a journal of favorite lines.  I tried to write lyrics myself.

I've got a list of songs that inspire my current WIP (see my sidebar).  This is the one that hits me hardest lately.  It reminds me of old summer days--how the heck did Chris Daughtry get in my head??

What songs cut right to your heart and inspire your writing?

I can see why this song had that affect on you. It's very nostalgic. And those kind of songs are always inspiring. I love that he had pictures of himself growing up. I heart chris Daughtry.

I'm the same way. The idea for my novel was sparked by the song "By Your Side" by Tenth Avenue North. I love music, not just because of the melody; but mostly because of the lyrics. They speak to me. Not to mention they are great story-starters. I've always thought about keeping a journal where I write my favorite song lyrics... maybe I'll start one some day. =)

Great post!

Thanks Laura and Tessa! I know I'm not the only one...and this song is just the most recent in a long long line of musical inspiration over the years... Thanks for stopping by!

It depends entirely on what I'm writing, but for my fantasy it's usually Heather Dale. So beautiful <3

Definitely changes daily and weekly, but today "I Will" by Chris deBurgh... "Speak of our forgotten words, like peace and joy and good, for the world can only live when love can sing."

"I want you to want me" definitely always brings me back to high school!
