Music and Writing

I've been trying to think about my main character. She's a 15 year old girl - a bit insecure emotionally, but with a strong drive to succeed. She wants to win the big golf tournament, but complicating the issue is her confusion about her feelings toward the boy in the story - who also happens to be her primary competition.

I'm trying to get into the character's head by listening to music I think she'd like - Taylor Swift and Evanescence are her two current favorites. Any other suggestions?

Does she have a summer job?
Is she taking any summer classes (or golf lessons, musical instrument lessons)?
Who are her friends? Do they like golf, or do they think it is stupid? Some of each?
Is she athletic other than golf? Competitive in other arenas? Or is golf her main athletic outlet?

Just wondering. I'll bet she is a little old school and likes Huey Lewis & Abba, when no one is looking.

Good questions. All (or most) are answered in the first couple of paragraphs of the first chapter...

She does like a bit of '80s rock when the mood strikes...
